Free Swim

Teaching over 200 children to swim FOR FREE is what each summer brings to the Tice Pool as our third year in partnership with the American Red Cross and Lee County Parks & Recreation continues at this great facility!  SYAL makes it possible for the pool to remain open in the afternoon so adults and kids enjoy the water, sunshine and great exercise.  This year there are 4 two-week sessions for swim instruction with three classes each morning.  Week nine we’re leading right up to the week school starts with open swimming Monday through Friday, Too.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office makes sure diver, Staff Officer Darryl Aubuchon, is available to provide the kids an opportunity to breath from his tank underwater and swim around.  We also had one week when a diving instructor visited and brought small tanks the young people could strap and dive right next to him.  Special thanks to Dean’s Dive Center for such a wonderful experience!
